Local brick and mortar dealer in Allentown, PA got them in on Nov. 2 (business strikes), not proofs. They are sold out at Spot plus $80.00. I got lucky and locked in at $1,049 spot, so I paid $1,129.00 each.

I thought if it was sent w/in 30 days of offical release you were FS eligible whether it was opened or not. If you don't open it, you can send it in anytime as long it's postmarked w/in that 30 day frame. Call them to make sure.

I would like to see some pics...I ordered within the first 10 mins and my card has not been charged and order status is still "in process". I imagine they fill the orders in the order they were received but that could be a big assumption.

I am sure somebody among those that have received must have a camera lying around...I am with Coltwind, no pic, no proof, no coin :Sorry: :ok:

ALSO, If anybody confirms the First Strike/Early Release requirments regarding whether you can open and just send in within the first 30 days (and when the 30 days begins) OR if it has to be left unopened, PLEASE POST FINDINGS :shakehand: :coolbeer:

UMMM...I grade it PF 70 first strike/early releases/First picture on GIM
Now we will encapsulate with the GIM Logo and you can sell it on eBay for $5,000!

I got mine today. It's nice enough to send in for grading (and the glorious First Strike designation, lol). I'll let you know how it goes. But man, what a beautiful coin.

I went ahead and opened mine. The finish is different than the other Buffalo Proofs I have. The raised foreground Indian/Buffalo has a much more matte/satin finish. I like it! There is more contrast and separation from the background.:bear_thumb:

The Saints had a few PROOFS like that in the early 1910s. The collectors way-back-then really frowned on them and avoided them so they were RARE in number(s). Of course, later they became (very) POPULAR and SUPER SUPER SUPER low in number: did I say SUPER Expensive because NOBODY bought them?

I will compare them when I get mine. Interesting how history may rhyme if the total is low in number.

I guess I'm going to have to wait till 20 Nov to get my coins. They must of had some error coins by the time they got to my order. Nice coin Shamrock.

24 karat (or is it carat?) is really soft compared to the 90% eagles.

I wonder if you are right about the error(s)?

Interesting - imagine if they shut down the series too?

FINALLY!!! The pics are not up to Tom's standard, but the best I could get with a point and shoot and natural lighting. Any photoshop experts out there, feel free to edit. I also couldn't bring myself to crack it open for a clearer pic, fear of dropping it overboard and all, which eventually happened after I got the pics and decided to take it up on deck for some fresh air...but at least I have the pics :favorites21::banghead:

MINE were supposed to ship yeaterday - supposed to - is the operative phrase.

We'll see. I got them in case they are the EXTINCT type coins going into next year like most the OTHER in the PM category. Sadly. IMVHO.

This is from the U.S. mint

American Buffalo Gold Proof fractional coins and the four-coin set are no longer available. Additionally, the United States Mint will no longer offer American Buffalo Gold Uncirculated Coins.

Does this mean that 2009 is the last year for Buffalo's?

Anyone?

Or, does this just mean that from now on all future Buffalo's will be struck in a "Proof" state?

They killed most of the Eagles including 4 uncirculated and 4 proofs in gold; 4 platinum so far - maybe one next month I hope it's not Tungsten, right?; NO silver PROOF this year FOR first time. One Buffalo out of 4

from last year in PROOF; none in uncirculated.

Who knows??? It seemed that there would be no Buffalos in 2009 and then the Mint put out a statement that the bullion buffs would be minted albeit w/o a date.

Finally both the 2009 bullion and proof were minted... with 2 months left in the year.

By law, the Mint has to produce the bullion buffalo each year but it is at their discretion on when.
In turn, it will take an act of Congress to end the bullion buffalo program.

The proof on the other hand can be cancelled at any moment.

So, who knows what will become of any proof coin next year?
